A square abstraction built from deep blacks, layered colour and sweeping, circular movement. Streaks of pink, yellow, green and blue emerge through the darker surface, creating something almost cosmic without becoming a literal depiction of space. Heavier areas of paint give the work a strong physical presence.

The painting developed from thoughts about human existence within a much larger span of time — ancestry, continuity and the extraordinary chain of events that allows any of us to be here at all.
