Stories settle.
Edges soften.
Unease becomes background.
Guards lower.
Before —
there is the status quo.
Dignity with Scars is an abstract exploration of resistance, difference, survival after harm, and the cycles we fail to break.
A square, heavily layered painting built around the meeting of two very different areas. A warm mass of yellow, orange and pink pushes into a much darker field of blues and blacks, where repeated circular marks, scratches and fissures remain visible. Marble dust adds physical breaks and raised edges to the surface.
The work developed alongside Patterns, with its recurring ideas of pressure, resistance, damage and what remains afterwards.
