A landscape that sits somewhere between construction site and aftermath. 

Uneven vertical forms create a distant skyline while the foreground is rough, barren and heavily worked. The sky can be read as weather, smoke or both. Nothing is quite settled enough to become a literal place. 

The painting grew from thinking about promises of progress and the physical traces left when decisions made elsewhere arrive on the ground.

The jagged forms and muted earth tones speak to the fallout of decisions made far removed from the lives they ultimately affect.
