Raze and raise.

Burn and build.

Grow, baby, grow.

A dark, stripped-back landscape in which land, water and sky are reduced almost to the same limited range of blue-black tones. Thin red and pink marks run across the horizon and pick out small remnants in the foreground. Human presence is minimal.

The painting imagines a place after rather than during activity: what is left once much of the noise, building and consumption has vanished, as one day it inevitably will.
